Default Pet Control

Just throwing an idea out there.

With the introduction of hero's you were able to control them to anywhere in the map you would like.
This is what id like to see happen with our beloved pets. If i want my pet to attack someone halfway across the mini map he should beable to do so. Or, the ability to flag him to a desired area.

Currently you have to be just ouside the aggro bubble, click on the bad guy, and tell your pet to attack. Thats ok, but, usually when the pet agro's the group, they skip the pet and come straight to you. I want the ability to have the pet go in and grab agro and hold it before i come in to cast skills.

To offset this abilitly you should only be able to cast skills for your pet if they are at the edge of your agro bubble or closer. Currently you can cast skills for your pet if they are halfway across the mini map. Such things like confort animal.

Idk.. any idea's?

I don't really like the proposed offset. Managing aggro once, as clumsy as it is now, is preferable to doing it everytime I comfort Wolf, or have him Lunge.

If you wanted to flag your pet, how about turning it into a hero? Give your pet a full skill bar. That will give you the same options you're looking for.

I think the pets work just fine, so try some of the following:

1. Set your pet to "Attack" mode. Then, even if you're just standing there, they will continue to fight. You launch their attack through a pet attack skill (if you want them to hold aggro, I'de suggest a snare) and once the enemy are all bashing your cat's brain in proceed with your Barrage spam (am I right?)

2. Don't play by yourself. When I play as a Ranger I'm rarely attacked at all (that's why rangers make good survivors). I'm usually at the very back of the party with my Longbow behind a nice cushion of juicy casters and waay behind the tanks. If you're personally getting rushed by enemy mobs on a regular basis, it's probably a safe bet that you're playing solo.

3. If you are playing with a group, it's the tank's job to hold agro, not just your pet. Either find a human tank that knows how to do their job, or micro manage your hero/henchmen tanks by choosing and locking targets individually. I'm not going to start an H/H guide, but if your H/H party isn't holding aggro it's probably due to management.

Hope this helps. (Don't hold your breath for an AI change to pets)

This would be the best outcome. But, im 99% certain that it will never happen.

I ask this because i would like to solo (farm) small groups of enemies in hard mode. Using most if not all beastmastery skills.

Agreed; the micro is just fine as it is.

Using other people as meatshields, a good strategy. Were really heartless are we?
Or maybe just plain opportunists.
